Layout and Living Space
The 850 is an end bedroom layout with a rear island bed. Your fixed double sits in its own room at the back of the van, so there’s no making up beds each night. It’s a layout that works brilliantly for longer trips, where having a permanent bedroom makes the van feel more like a home.
Up front, the L-shaped lounge is one of the standout features of the Challenger X range. It gives you a more sociable, living room feel than traditional facing sofas, and the 8ft width means there’s space to stretch out even with four of you inside. Loose-fit carpets add warmth underfoot, and blinds and fly screens on the windows let you control light and airflow throughout the day.
Kitchen Facilities
The kitchen is fully equipped for touring life. You get a full oven, a hob, a microwave, a fridge, and a freezer. There’s workspace to match, and the extra width of the van means two people can move around the kitchen area without getting in each other’s way.
Heating and Climate
Heating comes from an Alde wet central heating system. Alde works like the radiators in your house, warming the van gently and evenly with none of the noise of a blown air system. For warmer days, the Heki rooflight, large rooflight, and sunroof give you excellent ventilation and fill the living space with natural light.
Practical Extras
The 850 comes well equipped. A solar panel keeps your leisure battery topped up when you’re pitched without hook-up, backed by a battery charger for mains use. There’s a hitch head stabiliser for a more settled tow, plus alloy wheels, a spare wheel, a stereo system, and a fly screen on the door. It also comes with a 2 year warranty for added peace of mind.

The Challenger X 850 has an unladen weight of 1,635kg and an MTPLM of 1,800kg, giving you 160kg of payload to work with. As a large twin axle van, it’s a stunning van.
